"My car is worth $ 25,800." "I looked up the price of a used car online, and my car is worth 20 grands." I hear quotes like this every day. .. I know ... 80% of car buyers use the internet to research car and used car prices. The internet is perfect for vehicle research! When it comes to car prices, the internet is the worst! It's terrible because the price doesn't reflect the reality of either the buyer or the seller. Car-related websites have caused more confusion than ever: "My car is worth $ 25,800." "I searched the internet for used car prices, and my car is 20 Grand. It's worth it. "I hear quotations like this every day. We hope that our values are genuine for our customers. By real I mean a viable number according to market value.As hard as it is to accept, even for me as a dealer, what we think a car is worth, and what its actually worth according to market value is often drastically different.To find a vehicles value the context must first be discussed. Whats context?Context includes, but is not limited to:1) Vehicle condition: mileage, maintenance, 1-owner etc2) Desirability: new model, special editions, just plain cool 3) Seasonality: plow trucks, convertibles, 4-wheel drive etc4) The Economy: factory incentives, gas prices, hybrids, SUVs5) Location: Beverly Hills versus the BronxNow, each of the above context variables could easily have several sub categories. For example Vehicle condition is extremely relative. One person may think there vehicle is perfect, someone else states it needs $1000 worth of work.Desirability is also relative. A bunch of very cool bells and whistles may not add any value, or it may add $1000s.Seasonality is relative. A summer convertible is worth one or more in Chicago in the winter. In northeastern June, plow trucks are significantly less valuable than in November. The economic crisis, exorbitant gasoline prices combined with manufacturer incentives can shift new and used car prices across the map. Location has a big impact on the price of used cars. A convertible in California is worth more than one in Canada. In summary, context is reduced to market value. Sites such as Edmonds, NADA, and Kelly have largely overlooked the mark and produced a huge amount of false information. To be fair, these are great research sites, but you can't have the final say on pricing. The statement that a vehicle is worth a certain amount of money based on data from the website does not take into account the above factors. This is a value due to a false alarm. These sites have created an aura of trust, even though values are actually a myth. The market, for better or for worse, is a true indicator of vehicle value. What should I do? Buyers and sellers will be successful in chasing the market. Visit autotrader.com, cars.com, and / or * ebaymotors.com to see which vehicles are being promoted and sold. These sites have no final decision, but are much more accurate than sites that rely heavily on opinions and averages. Note: eBay used car prices are generally wholesale prices.

It can be a lot of fun to visit a new part of the world. Of course, there are also certain costs that can be incurred when a person travels and that is why people who travel a lot should reduce their costs where they can. One way to save money is to avoid traditional car rental and go for a hybrid rental car instead. If you are a person who travels a lot, you are also the one who needs to rent a car to travel in the new city.</p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgOfvjjF5rf3_svKOEaEQp8nB_0yNM3dejiqQ_PYPGUeClUudCVUHLxA4_6A3NtzSEj6U-RBTOIhe93NQlGjZcw1t2QIlEWwWjOiEXUEfm85yYXiZGAQ5EylzKpd6ItbJ00jN5plvH0R-7e87H3rkIrRFw5nc2f9YED8USkhaB5_NcqZKCA90Jd1IGo/s1280/hybrid-428183_1280.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="767" data-original-width="1280" height="258" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgOfvjjF5rf3_svKOEaEQp8nB_0yNM3dejiqQ_PYPGUeClUudCVUHLxA4_6A3NtzSEj6U-RBTOIhe93NQlGjZcw1t2QIlEWwWjOiEXUEfm85yYXiZGAQ5EylzKpd6ItbJ00jN5plvH0R-7e87H3rkIrRFw5nc2f9YED8USkhaB5_NcqZKCA90Jd1IGo/w431-h258/hybrid-428183_1280.jpg" width="431" /></a></div> That's not uncommon either, as anyone passing through any major airport in the world will notice that there are several car rental services jostling for all the competition coming through the gate. of these airports. What makes this competition interesting is that a number of rental companies are also starting to offer hybrid car rentals. This should come as no surprise to anyone, as hybrids are becoming increasingly popular and any dealership that offers hybrid car rentals will be one step ahead of the competition. If you are new to a city, you may find yourself driving a lot, whether you like it or not!<div><br /></div><div><u><i><b><a href="https://www.jdoqocy.com/d6103nmvsmu9IDBBHFB9BAFFDIFA" target="_blank">

This, of course, will burn fuel whether you like it or not. As such, hybrid rental cars can save a lot of money as they will potentially offer significant mileage savings, far beyond what is commonly found in gasoline-powered cars. Remember that travel is the only reason people rent a car. Sometimes a car accident or repair job will require using the services of a car rental agent. For some people, renting a hybrid car would be a good option as a rental model, mainly because it can serve as a showcase for hybrid vehicles. This way, those in the market buying a new car can clear up any myths they may have about hybrids before making a purchase decision. Most likely, the rental experience will leave them with a positive impression of hybrids, and the popularity of hybrids will continue to grow.<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj_BSIvo7B63cfVnN2SaXG52v4nSjDOlyr0579sykn37k1DZZRU8UcXo0QayE6TVKMkexDeTIBjmTTdzouxGBMmkxMzUhzhNOsQ5WrwbZ_Hw8vJ4eJFe3PAJZVrR_ksdTV0P3Oz0pMK6qP4ci2upwsQCoKgyOTef5Yp-2_POcPFrFj1pyhK6LoJR52i/s1920/electric-car-1458836_1920.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1078" data-original-width="1920" height="252" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj_BSIvo7B63cfVnN2SaXG52v4nSjDOlyr0579sykn37k1DZZRU8UcXo0QayE6TVKMkexDeTIBjmTTdzouxGBMmkxMzUhzhNOsQ5WrwbZ_Hw8vJ4eJFe3PAJZVrR_ksdTV0P3Oz0pMK6qP4ci2upwsQCoKgyOTef5Yp-2_POcPFrFj1pyhK6LoJR52i/w448-h252/electric-car-1458836_1920.jpg" width="448" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><p></p><p>So the definition then of…With gas prices on the rise and no relief in site, many people are starting to consider the advantage of owning a hybrid vehicle. But what exactly is a hybrid and how can it benefit you? First you should know that hybrids are actually much more common that you might think. For example, many commuter trains and city buses are electric-diesel hybrids.</p><p>
<a href="https://www.dpbolvw.net/r1101qgpmgo3C755B95358948AC4" target="_blank"><img alt="" border="0" src="https://www.ftjcfx.com/ig104o26v0zKTOMMSQMKMPQLPRTL" /></a> </p><p> Many types of industrial heavy vehicles are also hybrids such as mining trucks and even submarines.So the definition then of a hybrid is any vehicle that runs on not just one, but a combination of two power sources. So why should you buy one? Lets consider the advantages.Hybrid cars are energy efficient. They are affordable and they are a workable way to deal with our energy situation and are therefore worth supporting. They have small efficient gas engines that work in combination with an electric motor. The two work together, the electric motor recharges while the car is in motion. </p><p><br /></p><p>Efficiency is then maintained by aerodynamic styling, lightweight material, and intermittent engine shut off.Intermittent engine shut off comes into play when the car is stopped for short periods such as a stop light. The engine then shuts off and kicks back on when the gas pedal is depressed.Lightweight building materials are used to make the hybrid more energy efficient and emphasis is placed on aerodynamic styling to reduce wind drag. Hybrid cars use low rolling resistance tires which are unique in that they are narrower and stiffer and have a lot less drag which adds to the energy efficiency.Hybrids are also better for our environment. They emit 97% less emissions than regular cars and have roughly the same amount of carbon dioxide. They get far greater gas mileage and are equally as safe to drive as non hybrid cars.Hybrids also drive the same as regular cars so it is treated in the same manner; nothing new to learn specific to the handling of a hybrid. Owners of hybrids may also be entitled to incentives. These vary from state to state so check in your area to find out what is available. One blanket incentive is a reduction in federal taxes for hybrid owners.</p>

One of the most overlooked parts of a vehicle, and one of the most common automotive repairs is the timing belt. Your cars timing belt may look like an accessory, but the fact is that if it fails, your car will suddenly stop, and, if youre lucky, you will find yourself stranded on the side of the road waiting for a tow truck.Timing belts are typically made of nylon reinforced rubber, with square teeth located on the inside surface. While you drive, the belt transfers the rotation of the crankshaft the camshaft, which in turn activates the valves that provide air and fuel to the cylinders and expel combustion gases to the exhaust system. Inside your car, the valves and pistons move up and down rapidly, and most engines are not built to allow clearance between a valve that is down and a piston that is up and this is where the timing belt comes in, since it is what keeps the valves and pistons for colliding. If your timing belt fails, and a collision occurs, the damage to the cylinder head, cylinder walls, valves, and pistons can be extensive, and expensive, as well. During an automotive repair, the timing belt is often overlooked, since they are typically protected by a cover, and a quick visual inspection isnt a possibility. Over the past several years, cars have been built to rely on a timing chain as opposed to a belt. While these are typically longer lasting, they operate on essentially the same principal, and require replacement and maintenance, which varies by car. Typically, you can expect to have to replace your timing belt or chain every 60,000 to 90,000 miles.Replacing a timing belt or chain requires the removal of the engine drive belt, the component responsible for operating the alternator, water pump, power steering pump, and air conditioner. When you visit your mechanic, be sure to ask them about how often the timing belt or chain on your car should be replaced. Your vehicles owners manual will also be able to provide guidelines as to timing belt replacement and maintenance. Remember, the care you take of your car today ensures its continued health, and your safety while on the road. Automotive repair problems, if caught early, are less expensive and require less time to repair than those that are overlooked in the initial stages. Doing a good job with preliminary care and maintenance can really help your automobile to go along way.

The huge stone somehow managed to find itself through the windshield and leaving a hole behind. So what do you do? Do you simply replace the windshield or can you just have it repaired? The answer to this question is It depends and that is according to automobile experts. Just like any other damages like scratches on the paint or on the exterior of your vehicle, if the damage is too huge, then maybe it is time to replace your windshield. On the other hand, the decision on whether the windshield should be replaced or repaired also depends on other things like the size, the location, and the severity of the damage. You see, most shops that offer windshield repair actually accept cases where the damage range from around chips that are around a quarter in size or cracks that could measure some three inches long. However, beyond that, replacement would be the answer. Of course, you are very well aware that the repair for a windshield could get quite costly. A chip from a rock could cost you around $40 to $50 dollars. That is for just one chip. Now think if there any additional chips. That means you would have to shed an extra $10 for each additional one. As per repairing cracks, the principle and the price is still the same. Now the next question is where do you actually have your windshield replaced or repaired? You can check out the Internet for places or shops that offer such services. On the other hand, you can also go to an automotive glass specialist for they actually specialize in repair or replacement of automotive glass. You can also try out your luck at a windshield repair facility where they do give their best in fixing chips and cracks in your windshield. Car dealers also offer services like windshield replacements. The good thing with dealers is that once you do purchase a windshield from them, you are very most certain that it is an original one and is made from quality material. You can also shop for discount car parts and accessories from Auto Parts Gos online performance or OEM replacement auto parts catalog. In stock are thousands of items that range from specific parts like Toyota parts to any other part for various vehicle models and makes.</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div>

Buying a car no doubts requires a lot of money but that does not mean that only rich can buy it. Always remember the success of buying a used car is to do your research before you buy it. You will have to prepare yourself for all the stress if you are looking for a perfect deal. Make sure that you are with the best used car dealer who will ensure you the best deal. You need to go through the following information before buying a used car. 1) Always decide the budget you can afford to buy the car. Since you are buying the used car always include price of the Car, repairs and maintenance cost of the car, Car insurance and so on. 2) Decide the Car you would like to buy. The best option would be to go for a mid-sized car as these cars are available at great bargains. 3) Used cars may be covered by a manufacturer’s warranty or a separately purchased service contract. However note that they may not be transferable. Always make sure to go through the warranty or service contract before you buy any used cars. 4) You can also take a test drive of the car and check its efficiency and comfort. It would be more preferable if you take a test drive on different types of roads. Have a drive for at least 10 to 15 miles to ensure the smoothness of the car. 5) Find out how old is the car you are going to buy. Try to buy a car which is two or three years older. Buying a two or three years older car would probably be a great deal as this will give you an opportunity to drive the latest model. It would be asking for trouble if you decide to go for a much older car. 6) If you are not 100% satisfied by the car avoid buying it. Don’t just buy a car since it is cheap as this might turn into a big expense in the long term. 7) It would be advisable to get the car inspected by the mechanic you hire. If you neglect it, you will have to pay everything for the maintenance once you buy the car. A mechanic can put the car on the lift and can immediately identify any previous damages, corrosions and so on. 8) If you are buying a 4 to 5 year old car it would be advisable to get the warranty period extended. Else you will have to bear the brunt of heavy losses. 9) Every dealer has a price in mind below which they will not sell you the car. The dealer is ready to reduce the price of the car till this price point and yet manages a decent profit. However if they find a particular buyer inexperienced they take advantage of such buyers and gladly make a very good profit. Hence it is very important to educate yourself thoroughly before going to a car dealer.</span><br />

<br />
Most people have heard of <a href="http://auto.howstuffworks.com/auto-racing/motorsports/formula-one.htm">Formula One racing</a>,
with its pointy-nosed, open-wheeled race cars. There's also a Formula
Two and Formula Three series with similar cars but different rules and
regulations. And now, there's Formula E -- with the same pointy nose,
the same open-wheel design and a completely different power source.<br />
The "E" is obviously for "electric," and these all-electric cars
will be tearing up the street tracks beginning in 2014. According to
Formula E, however, the "E" also stands for "exciting, efficiency,
environment, and last but not least, a new era." It can also, they say,
stand for "entertainment." I think we, the fans, will be the judge of
that, thank you very much.<br />
<br />
We need to start with just a teensy bit of history to bring everyone
up to speed: In 2008, French designer Frederic Vasseur and his company
Formulec unveiled the first electric Formula-style race car. Formula E
Holdings then bought the technology from Formulec, and Vasseur founded
Spark Racing Technology (SRT), a consortium charged with designing the
race cars for the series.<br />
The group includes none other than the legendary racecar builders from <a href="http://auto.howstuffworks.com/mclaren-f1.htm">McLaren</a>.
You may know them for their Formula One Vodafone McLaren Mercedes, or
you may know the names of some of the many drivers to grace McLaren race
seats over the years, like Jensen Button, Lewis Hamilton, Juan Pablo
Montoya or even racing legend Ayrton Senna.<br />
<br />

<h3>
Formula E Teams and Tracks

</div>
<h3 style="text-align: left;">
</h3>
As of early 2013, two teams have already stepped up and signed on the
dotted line, committing to the inaugural season of the E-Prix, as some
are already calling it. (You know, because "E" and "Prix" rhyme in that
catchy little phrase.)<br />
The first to sign up was Drayson Racing Technologies. They've
already announced they'll be using the SRT cars provided by FEH for the
2014 season; however, they're developing their own race car for the 2015
season in conjunction with another racing powerhouse, Lola. In fact, a
prototype of their joint effort has already set an electric record at
the 2012 Goodwood Festival of Speed in the United Kingdom.<br />

<h3>
Author's Note: How Formula E Will Work</h3>
You know what's really weird about electric races? They're quiet. Chirping-crickets quiet.<br />
I've been to lots of electric-powered races, oddly enough. I've
been to drag races and time trials. I've seen professionally built team
cars and home-built conversions take to the track, too. I've seen
record-setting motorcycles and puttering electrical embarrassments, and
they're all (every one of them) silent but for the sound of tires on the
pavement. Sometimes there's a whirr -- if you're lucky.<br />
So a whole field of 10 Formula E cars circling the track at the
same time is going to require some adjustment on the part of the
spectators. I guess we're all going to have to do our part to make some
noise, because the race cars just ain't gonna do it for us this time.<br />

<h3 style="text-align: left;">
In this increasingly green world, automakers are looking for ways to increase product efficiency. Their focus might surprise you: </h3>
<h3 style="text-align: left;">
The exhaust pipe.</h3>
<br />
With worldwide reserves of fossil fuels gradually diminishing and air
pollution increasing, automotive engineers are constantly on the
lookout for ways to make cars more fuel efficient and to reduce their
carbon emissions. One of the most surprising places they've found wasted
energy is in the car's exhaust. Actually, automotive designers have
been tapping the hidden power of automobile exhaust since the early
1970s. Because this technology recycles the exhaust before it can exit
the vehicle, it also helps reduce the emissions produced by a car and
helps fight air pollution.<br />
Technologies made to maximize the efficiency of a vehicle's exhaust are known collectively as <b>exhaust heat recovery and recirculation</b>.
There are several ways to use a vehicle's exhaust to increase its fuel
efficiency and make it run with fewer emissions. For example, the heat
of the car's exhaust can be used to warm the engine coolant to keep the
engine running warm, even when the motor has been turned off for a
significant length of time. The interior of the car can also be warmed
using exhaust heat, even in very cold weather. The amount of nitrous
oxide (N2O) emissions can be reduced, and a vehicle's exhaust can
actually be used to generate electricity. The term <b>exhaust heat recovery</b>
is used for the process by which the exhaust's heat energy is recycled
through both the car and the engine, so it's a part of all of these
technologies.<br />
<br />
The internal combustion engines in cars, trucks and other vehicles
produce several kinds of pollution. One of the most common is carbon
dioxide emissions, which play a significant role in global warming.
Reducing carbon emissions has become one of the most important goals
facing automotive engineers. However, automobile engines produce other
emissions as well. One of the major components of smog is N2O -- <b>nitrous oxide</b> -- and these emissions are also produced by internal combustion engines.<br />
Like carbon dioxide, nitrous oxide is a <b>greenhouse gas</b>.
This means that it traps the heat in solar radiation -- sunlight --
within our atmosphere and uses it to heat the Earth's surface. Without
the heat trapped by greenhouse gases, the surface of the earth would be
too cold to support life. However, the right balance is important. While
too little would turn the earth into a frozen snowball, too much would
turn it into a sweltering jungle or desert. Human beings and our
technology have evolved to require a certain climate. Anything that
changes that climate may affect the way we live, dramatically altering
agricultural patterns and melting the polar icecaps.<br />

<div class="sticky" data-track-gtm="Pagination : Top" id="pagination-upper">
</div>
The key to exhaust heat recirculation is a device called an <b>exhaust gas recirculation</b> (<b>EGR</b>)
valve. The EGR valve opens when it encounters back pressure from the
car's exhaust and channels it back into the combustion chamber. You
might wonder what good this does, since the air in the chamber is mixed
with gasoline to make it combustible. Well, one thing it does is to make
the fuel warmer. Warm fuel heats up more efficiently and therefore
produces more miles per gallon. Once the EGR valve senses that the
engine is warm enough, it redirects the exhaust elsewhere to prevent the
engine from overheating.<br />
Warming the coolant and the fuel not only helps the engine reach
its optimal temperature faster when the engine is first started, but it
also has a specific benefit for hybrids. Most hybrids are designed so
that the internal combustion engine turns off when the vehicle is
stopped. If it remains off for too long, the engine can get cold. EGR
helps keep the engine from cooling down too quickly.<br />

Electricity from Exhaust</h3>
</div>
</div>
</div>
<br />
<b>Thermoelectric materials</b>, as the name implies, can produce
heat from electricity. These materials were discovered in 1821 by the
German physicist Thomas Seebeck. They've generally been too expensive
and inefficient to be of any use to automotive engineers, but this has
started to change: The U.S. Department of Energy has expressed interest
in funding the development of a practical thermoelectric system that
could be used in cars.<br />
There are many sources of wasted heat in cars, including the
radiator and the engine, but the biggest source is probably the exhaust.
Given that most cars already recirculate exhaust in an EGR loop and
that this technology will be even more important in the future, this
provides an ideal opportunity to trap this otherwise wasted heat and use
thermoelectric devices to convert it into electricity. This electricity
could be used to power the car's electrical systems, recharge the
batteries, and perhaps most importantly, run the electric motor in
hybrid and <a href="http://auto.howstuffworks.com/car-models/plug-in-hybrids/plug-in-hybrid-car.htm">plug-in battery</a>
electric vehicles. This would be a nearly perfect confluence of several
technologies, and would have the side effect of helping to reduce
nitrous oxide emissions by further cooling the exhaust before it's mixed
with fuel.<br />

<br />
When people talk about <a href="http://auto.howstuffworks.com/champ-car.htm">race cars</a> or high-performance sports cars, the topic of <b>turbochargers</b>
usually comes up. Turbochargers also appear on large diesel engines. A
turbo can significantly boost an engine's horsepower without
significantly increasing its weight, which is the huge benefit that
makes turbos so popular!<br />
In this article, we'll learn how a turbocharger increases the
power output of an engine while surviving extreme operating conditions.
We'll also learn how wastegates, ceramic turbine blades and <a href="http://science.howstuffworks.com/transport/engines-equipment/bearing.htm">ball bearings</a> help turbochargers do their job even better. Turbochargers are a type of <b>forced induction system</b>. They <b>compress</b> the air flowing into the engine (see <a href="http://auto.howstuffworks.com/engine.htm">How Car Engines Work</a>
for a description of airflow in a normal engine). The advantage of
compressing the air is that it lets the engine squeeze more air into a
cylinder, and more air means that more fuel can be added. Therefore, you
get more power from each explosion in each cylinder. A turbocharged
engine produces more power overall than the same engine without the
charging. This can significantly improve the power-to-weight ratio for
the engine (see <a href="http://auto.howstuffworks.com/horsepower.htm">How Horsepower Works</a> for details).<br />
<h3 style="text-align: left;">
Turbochargers and Engines</h3>
One of the surest ways to get more power out of an <a href="http://auto.howstuffworks.com/engine.htm">engine</a>
is to increase the amount of air and fuel that it can burn. One way to
do this is to add cylinders or make the current cylinders bigger.
Sometimes these changes may not be feasible -- a turbo can be a simpler,
more compact way to add power, especially for an aftermarket accessory.<br />
Turbochargers allow an engine to burn more <a href="http://science.howstuffworks.com/gasoline.htm">fuel</a>
and air by packing more into the existing cylinders. The typical boost
provided by a turbocharger is 6 to 8 pounds per square inch (psi). Since
normal atmospheric pressure is 14.7 psi at sea level, you can see that
you are getting about 50 percent more air into the engine. Therefore,
you would expect to get 50 percent more power. It's not perfectly
efficient, so you might get a <b>30- to 40-percent improvement</b> instead.<br />
<br />
<h3 style="text-align: left;">
Turbocharger Design</h3>
<img alt="How a turbocharger is plumbed in a car" class="media-hero" src="http://s.hswstatic.com/gif/turbo-plumbing.gif" data-src="http://s.hswstatic.com/gif/turbo-plumbing.gif" height="187" title="How a turbocharger is plumbed in a car" width="425 " /><br />
The turbocharger is bolted to the <b>exhaust manifold</b> of the engine. The exhaust from the cylinders spins the <b>turbine</b>, which works like a <a href="http://science.howstuffworks.com/transport/flight/modern/turbine.htm">gas turbine engine</a>. The turbine is connected by a shaft to the <b>compressor</b>, which is located between the air filter and the intake manifold. The compressor pressurizes the air going into the pistons.<br />
<div class="fragment-media secondary-image media-vertical" style="max-width: 440px;">

</div>
</div>
The exhaust from the cylinders passes through the <b>turbine blades</b>, causing the turbine to spin. The more exhaust that goes through the blades, the faster they spin.<br />
<h3 style="text-align: left;">
Turbocharger Parts</h3>
One of the main problems with turbochargers is that they do not
provide an immediate power boost when you step on the gas. It takes a
second for the turbine to get up to speed before boost is produced. This
results in a feeling of lag when you step on the gas, and then the car
lunges ahead when the turbo gets moving.<br />
One way to decrease turbo lag is to reduce the <b>inertia</b> of
the rotating parts, mainly by reducing their weight. This allows the
turbine and compressor to accelerate quickly, and start providing boost
earlier. One sure way to reduce the inertia of the turbine and
compressor is to make the turbocharger smaller. A small turbocharger
will provide boost more quickly and at lower engine speeds, but may not
be able to provide much boost at higher engine speeds when a really
large volume of air is going into the engine. It is also in danger of
spinning too quickly at higher engine speeds, when lots of exhaust is
passing through the turbine.<br />
<h3 style="text-align: left;">
Using Two Turbochargers & More Turbo Parts</h3>
Some engines use <b>two turbochargers</b> of different sizes. The
smaller one spins up to speed very quickly, reducing lag, while the
bigger one takes over at higher engine speeds to provide more boost.<br />
When air is compressed, it heats up; and when air heats up, it
expands. So some of the pressure increase from a turbocharger is the
result of heating the air before it goes into the engine. In order to
increase the power of the engine, the goal is to get more air molecules
into the cylinder, not necessarily more air pressure.<br />
